I couldn't not share this one with you guys. Say what you will about the consumerism regarding the holidays (the Gap always being a driving force) - but this is just funny.

San Diego Photo Journal: Coronado Island
I was determined that my first visit to the west coast included a trip to the beach - I'd never seen the Pacific, let alone put my feet in it. A short ferry ride from our hotel was Coronado Island (more of a peninsula, really), and although I only spent a few hours there, I walked the whole width of the island and certainly got a feel for the Cali beach style. As a regular east coast beach vactioner each year, it was refreshing to experience the west coast translation. In short, it - and the beachy breeze - was fresh and lovely. And I got to see dolphins (even if my camera was not as cooperative)!
Coronado also included the silliest thing I saw all week in San Diego - a Segway tour! Watching them scoot around the island was nothing less than cartoonish.

San Diego Photo Journal: Balboa Park
I had a lot of time to myself on this trip, which was nice because it's rare that I get to travel, let alone travel and do only exactly what I want. On an unexpectedly sunny afternoon in San Diego (it was predicted to rain all week - "It's never like this here," I heard from every person I met), I took a stroll through Balboa Park, which was quite lovely. Skipped the zoo (some things really do require more than one person for total enjoyment - bars, restaurants, board games, and zoos - especially at nearly $40 admission), but saw a whole bunch else. My favorite was the colorful yet quaint, summery yet holiday-bedecked Spanish Village Art Center. I just hope the pandas didn't miss me too much.

So... I didn't leave you guys a note, huh?
Hi all,
"Where are you, Girl in Two Shoes???"
I know, I heard you.
Since it's almost 1:00 a.m., I'll keep this short.
I was in San Diego for about a week. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. You must have been so worried.
Photos to come soon - I promise December won't be a blog-less month!
Your pal (c'mon you know it),
